The Lost Forty stands as a testament to nature's resilience and the importance of preserving our natural heritage. This 144-acre tract of land, located northwest of Wirt, Minnesota, is one of the few remaining virgin forests in the state. Originally believed to be submerged beneath Coddington Lake due to a surveying error in 1882, the Lost Forty miraculously escaped the fate of being logged. Today, it offers a rare glimpse into the forests that once covered much of Minnesota.
